Human Rights Organization of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Visits LoC

Rawalpindi: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) delegation composed of members of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) visited the Chirikot district of the Line of Control (LoC) today, Inter Services Public Relations said.

ISPR stated in a statement that the delegation heard a comprehensive briefing on the general safety environment along the LoC.

The delegation was also informed of elaborate arrangements to protect civilians from hostile fire by building community shelters under any circumstances.

ISPR added in the statement: “Members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference also interacted with victims of ceasefire violations, village defense committees and members of the civil affairs department.”

The IPHRC delegation visited from August 4th to 9th, which coincided with India completing two years of illegal steps on August 5th, 2019 before accessing the control line.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The delegation will also visit the Line of Control (LoC) to monitor the situation on the ground.”

“During the visit, the IPHRC delegation will travel to Muzaffarabad and the Line of Control and interact with Kashmir leaders, refugees from IIOJK and victims of Indian atrocities,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

This visit is part of IPHRC’s mission to monitor the deteriorating humanitarian and human rights situation in Jammu and Kashmir under Indian occupation, especially due to a series of illegal actions that have taken place since August 5, 2019.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “This visit is of great significance to arouse the international community’s attention to the urgent need to resolve IIOJK’s abominable human rights situation and the peaceful resolution of issues in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmir people.”

The 13th Islamic Summit and the 42nd Council of Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (CFM) authorized the committee to monitor human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and submit regular reports.

Dr. Saeed Mohamed Abdullah — UAE — IPHRC Chairman

IPHRC Chairman, Dr. Said Mohamed Abdullah from the UAE stated that this visit was “really important because it was after a decision made by India, and we thought it was a very dangerous decision”.

He said that India’s actions “violated the human rights of our brothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir, which will change the demographic structure”.

Dr. Haci Ali Acikgul-Turkey-IPHRC Vice Chairman

IPHRC Vice Chairman Dr. Haci Ali Acikgul from Turkey expressed deep concern about human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.

“Of course, there are very tragic and very cruel issues on the Indian-occupied Kashmir side. From the right to life, prevention of torture and abuse, religious rights, freedom of speech, movement and other rights: rights are self-determining,” he said.

Acikgul pointed out that according to the UN Security Council, “the appropriate resolution is a referendum.”

“But unfortunately the Indian side, to this day, more than 70 years [later], Did not come to participate in the referendum, did not recognize the Kashmir people’s right to self-determination,” he regretted.

Ahmed Azam-Malaysia

Malaysian MP Ahmad Azam said that after listening to the stories shared by the victims, he can say “This question, this violation of the Indian government is real, and has not been subject to international organizations. punish”

“So I think it must be recorded, it must be emphasized, because the killing and suffering are real,” Azam said.

Hafid El Hachmi-Morocco

Moroccan member Hafid El Hachmi said that the organization was there to interact with refugees from Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Hackmi said: “We want to make their voices heard as much as possible in the world, and we do recognize the extent of their pain on the other side of the border.”

“We express our solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Justice will happen and they will exercise their right to self-determination; they will live a life of dignity and freedom,” he added.

Dr. Aydin Safikhanli-Azerbaijan

Dr. Aydin Safikhanli from Azerbaijan said that the organization “is here to help you”.

“We are here to investigate this situation very deeply. And, again, talk to relevant international organizations,” he said.

“You are talking about war crimes. This is really not a simple violation of human rights, but a serious violation of human rights. It is a war crime that should be punished,” Safikhanli said.
