How to stay safe in this rainy season

Karachi: The current monsoon season has made the country’s weather pleasant, but it has also caused serious damage and caused great inconvenience to the citizens.

The road has been flooded, and citizens are suffering from power outages.

As rain continues to hit several cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, here are some precautions to help you stay safe

• Avoid fallen power cords, as it is not safe to touch or get close to them.
• Keep children away from electrical outlets.
• Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or bare feet.
• Don’t ring the doorbell with wet hands.
• In rainy and windy weather, stay away from trees, utility poles and transformers.
• Install the portable generator separately from the service connection.
• Isolate the entire office electrical service line before turning on the generator.

Citizens should also observe the following tips to ensure safe driving on rainy days:

• slower! It takes longer to stop or adjust in wet weather.
• Stay in the middle lane-water tends to gather in the outer lane.
• Drive on the track of the vehicle in front of you.
• Don’t get too close to large trucks or buses. The splashing water from their levels will eventually obstruct your vision.
• Be more alert. Pay attention to the front brake lights.
• Even in light rain, or in dark, foggy or cloudy conditions, you can turn on the headlights.
• Replace old or fragile wipers.
• Avoid off-road driving.
• Do not exceed the visibility limit.
• If you cannot see the ground, never drive through flowing water; your car may be washed out of the road.
• When driving through puddles of uncertain depth, please drive slowly. If it is deeper than the bottom of the door, turn around and look for another route.
• If possible, stay away from the road during heavy thunderstorms.
• If possible, use the carpool method.
