About Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi

Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi is the 13th Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He was born in a small town on the line of control, named Darra Sher Khan, in tehsil Abbaspur, Poonch District. He graduated from Azad Kashmir University.

He started his political career in 1982, when he became Poonch’s district councillor. His family has long-term ties with the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC) party.

Niazi first became a member of the AJK Legislative Assembly in 2006 when he was elected on an AJKMC ticket.

From 2006 to 2011, he served as Minister of Finance, Warden and other positions.

He campaigned in opinion polls in 2011 and 2016. In this year’s poll, he won 24,500 votes and won the trust of several tribes.

Niazi is known for always cherishing his voters, believing that their problems are his own, whether it is death or illness in the family. He is always the first to visit the affected family.

His elder brother Sardar Ghulam Mustafa was elected to the legislative assembly twice and served as minister twice.

His younger brother Sardar Habib Zia (Sardar Habib Zia) is considered a skilled lawyer in the Supreme Court of AJK.

Niazi also has a third brother who lives in the United States and a son who is a member of Parliament in the United Kingdom.
