The Senate will meet at 4pm, whereas the National Assembly session will begin at 5pm on the same day.

The sessions are being summoned to reportedly complete "important legislation pertaining to the national affairs".

On Oct 7, Awan had called on NA Speaker Asad Qaiser for a similar purpose. During the meeting between the two, it was decided that the National Assembly would convene on Oct 22 to consider legislation on various national issues.

Additionally, the opposition had also sought a session of the lower house of parliament after President Alvi approved an ordinance that gave an extension to the chief of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) till the government appointed his successor.
