A girl visiting Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to watch a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match was allegedly gang-raped by two security guards on Friday, police officials said.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered at the Gulberg Police Station, the girl forgot her way back after watching the match. As she entered a deserted and dark street, she saw two guards.

As per the complaint, she asked the guards for help reaching Ferozpur Road. However, the suspects misguided her and allegedly sexually assaulted her as she reached a deserted place.

The police have registered the FIR on the victim's father complaint and are investigating the matter further.

Earlier this month, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two of her neighbours in Lahore’s Mozang area.

According to details, the victim was alone at her residence when her neighbours Ehsan Ali and Hassan allegedly barged into the house, subjected her to severe torture and then sexually assaulted her.

Last year, the Punjab government decided to establish Rape Investigation Unit (RIU) at every police station level owing to an unabated rise in cases of assault in the province.

The unit would investigate rape, molestation and harassment cases only like the previously formed designated homicide and narcotics investigation units.

The government would deploy separate Investigation Officers (IOs) to probe into such incidents only.
