Germany pledges to strengthen bilateral relations with Pakistan

The Inter-Service Public Relations Department stated that German dignitaries “committed to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries” when they met with Army Chief of Staff General Kamal Javed Bajwa on Thursday.
According to military media reports, General Bajwa, who is on an official visit to Germany, visited the German Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
The statement said that Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Markus Potzel (Markus Potzel) also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of common concern, the overall security situation in the region-including the latest developments in the Afghan peace process-and bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The ISPR statement stated that General Bajwa stated that Pakistan “attaches great importance to its relations with Germany” and expressed its desire to strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral relations.
German politicians acknowledged Pakistan’s continued efforts for peace and stability in the region and “committed to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries”.
The statement stated that afterwards, General Bajwa also visited the German Command and Staff College, where he spoke to students and faculty, and shared his views on “Pakistan’s regional and internal security perspectives.”
The statement said that in his speech, General Bajwa “introduced to the audience the external and internal security challenges facing Pakistan and the measures taken to mitigate the threat.”
The Chief of Staff of the Army stated that the future of lasting peace and stability in the world “depends on the ability to resolve long-standing unresolved issues in the region.”
The statement quoted General Bajwa as saying: “This can only be done through meaningful international support to tackle challenging regional issues.”
The Chief of Staff of the Army said in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that the Pakistani government and other national institutions are “doing their best to respond to the challenges facing Pakistan.”
Earlier, after arriving at the Command and Staff College, Major General Oliver Kohl, commander of the Hamburg Bundeswehr Command and Staff College, received General Bajwa.
