Chief of Staff of the Army (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa announced on Tuesday that Balochistan is the focus of the country’s leadership and that the military is working hard to provide and promote synergy with other national institutions.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), COAS adopted the above remarks during a speech at the 7th Balochistan National Symposium held at GHQ in Rawalpindi.

“Peace and prosperity in Balochistan are the cornerstones of Pakistan’s progress. It is time to reap the hard-won peace dividends, accelerate socio-economic development, and adopt a people-centered approach to achieve lasting stability,” said the Army Chief of Staff.

However, General Bajwa warned that the security forces will “unswervingly” defeat Balochistan and Pakistan’s enemies of peace and prosperity.

Military media said that the Chief of Staff of the Army emphasized “internal and external challenges” in his speech. He told attendees that all-round threats require a “comprehensive national response.”

“Balochistan is the focus of national leadership. The military and other state agencies are fully involved in promoting national and provincial responses. We are a resilient country that has withstood the test of time on the road to peace and stability.” General Bajwa said.

ISPR stated that many parliamentarians, bureaucrats, members of civil society, youth, academics and media representatives attended the seminar. It added that the seminar was held to allow future leaders of the province to understand “important national and provincial issues” and to “consistently respond” to these challenges.
