Karachi: Sindh Police Chief (IGP) Mustaq Maher revealed at a meeting on law and order in the province held at the Chief Minister’s Residence on Friday that Sindh has reported more than 1,000 murders so far this year.

A press release issued by the Office of the Chief Minister of Sindh stated that the Sindh IGP shared a number of statistics on criminal activities that occurred in the province from January 1 to August 5 this year.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The Chief Minister stated that he will review the law and order two or three times within a month and will act accordingly.

He instructed IGP Maher to strengthen the intelligence service and let him and relevant police officials understand the security situation in the province.

Shah also instructed the Chief Secretary of Sindh to formulate a policy under which every police officer will be eligible for the next promotion by working in the investigation department.

“All police officers, from inspectors to SSP, will receive annual confidential reports based on their service in the investigation department,” Shah said.
