Karachi: Former Sindh Chief Minister Mutaz Bhutto passed away on Sunday at the age of 94.

Mumtaz Bhutto, the cousin and close assistant of former prime minister and PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, died in his residence in Karachi.

Bhutto’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abro, said that the politician who served as the governor of Sindh before becoming the chief minister of Sindh has been sick for some time.

The spokesperson said that his body will be sent to Lakana for funeral prayers at 6 pm.

Bhutto formed his own party, the Sindh National Front (SNF), after disagreements with the BJP. In 2017, he announced the merger of SNF and PTI.

Earlier, Bhutto aligned SNF and PML-N before the 2013 election. However, after Bhutto and PML-N disagree, the two sides parted ways.

Condolences

President Arif Alvi expressed his grief over Bhutto’s death and his condolences to his family.

He prayed for Bhutto to be given to heaven and his family to have the patience to bear the loss.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

“I am sad to hear the news of the death of Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto. I extend my condolences and prayers to his family,” he wrote.

Senate Chairman Sadik Sangirani expressed grief over Bhutto’s death and condolences to his family.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was also one of the political leaders and expressed grief over the death of the former chief minister. He prayed for Bhutto’s future status to be promoted, and prayed for his family to gain patience in times of sadness.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he was sad to hear the news of Bhutto’s death.

He expressed condolences to his family and cherished the memory of Bhutto with admiration.

“Mumtaz Bhutto is a famous figure in Sindh politics,” he said.

The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Jam Kamal, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of this senior politician.

“I am as sorrowful as Mutaz Bhutto’s family,” said the chief minister of Balochistan.

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chowdhury, expressed sincere grief over Bhutto’s death.

“At this sad time, I am praying for my family,” he said.
