Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin has said that the government is committed to implementing structural reforms in Pakistan and expects to have continuous support from the World Bank in strengthening governance and improving service delivery through institutional reforms in the country.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, Tarin expressed these views during a meeting in Washington with World Bank’s South Asia Wing Vice President Hartwig Schaefer.

Tarin said that the government was expanding social protection programmes to protect the economically marginalised classes. The World Bank has a key role to play in improving service delivery, the minister noted, adding that the dynamic implementation of reforms needs to continue to achieve the targets of economic growth.
