Faulty submarine cable in UAE repaired: PTA

A submarine cable fault which was reported yesterday near Fujairah, UAE, has now been fixed, the Telecommunications Authority (PTA) said on Tuesday.

The authority took to Twitter to announce that work was underway to make services fully functional after some users faced a “degradation in services” on Monday. 

According to the PTA, the faulty cable segment has been repaired.

The PTA further stated that they are “monitoring the situation and will continue to update on it”.

The AAE-1, one of the six international submarine cables landing in Pakistan, had reportedly been cut, which caused internet services across the country to be disrupted with users reporting sluggish performance on their connections.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), in conjunction with the International Submarine Consortium, worked to restore services across the country.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and will notify you as soon as the services are fully restored. Thank you for your patience”, said a PTCL spokesperson stated.

However, the timeline for the complete restoration of services was not mentioned.
