New Delhi: Facebook seems to be preparing to launch Ray-Ban smart glasses related to augmented reality in the near future. According to reports, the US-based technology giant is making progress in the development of hardware products, especially those with augmented reality capabilities.

According to a report by GizmoChina, the tech giant is quietly making progress in its hardware lineup. Earlier this week, Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Ray-Ban smart glasses will be launched soon.

Since then, the outside world has been speculating that Big Blue will finally launch the long-awaited glasses in 2021. According to reports, the launch of AR glasses has been delayed due to the ongoing epidemic.

Although it seems that it will be launched soon, the overall outlook and expectations are still optimistic, and it may be launched in early 2022. But there are signs that the company may launch the device in the fourth quarter of 2021.

As of now, the social media giant is working with EssilorLuxottica to develop Ray-Ban smart glasses. Such glasses may be the forerunner of true augmented reality (AR) glasses. The report stated that, therefore, they are not classified as AR devices. Please also read: The center encourages patent and design trademark ecosystem: Piyush Goyal
