England announces new lineup after 7 people test positive for coronavirus

After seven members of the team tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, England will announce a new team to participate in the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan.

The English Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that three players and four support staff have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The team will now be led by Ben Stokes, as most players will be quarantined.

England will face Pakistan in the first ODI match in Cardiff on Thursday, July 8.

England captain Eoin Morgan said earlier that it is too early to consider Stokes as a member of XI. Due to a finger injury, the all-around player has been excluded in the past few weeks.

The remaining members of the new team facing Pakistan will be named later on Tuesday.

European Central Bank Chief Executive Tom Harrison said: “We are ready for this moment and realize that the emergence of Delta variants and our extrication from strict enforcement of the biosafety environment may increase the possibility of an outbreak.”

“We made a strategic choice to try to adjust the agreement to support the overall well-being of our players and management, who lived in very limited conditions for most of the 14 months.

“Overnight, we quickly identified a new team, we thank Ben Stokes, he will return to England as captain.

“We also recognize that this news will have an impact on our top counties and their men’s teams, and thank them and our partners Sky and Royal London for their continued support in responding to this epidemic.”

The first ODI: England vs. Pakistan, Thursday, July 8, 2021, Sofia Gardens, Cardiff.

The second ODI: England vs. Pakistan, Saturday, July 10, 2021, London Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The third ODI: England vs. Pakistan, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Edgbaston, Birmingham.

The Pakistan team has arrived in England to participate in the T20I and ODI series and stayed isolated in the Derby, after which they started training.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has said that the England series will help the team prepare for the World Cup and warned that England is not an easy opponent.

Captain Azam said that Pakistan had performed well in previous tournaments, but he warned not to be complacent.

“England will not be an easy opponent at home. This is a good opportunity to prepare for the World Cup.”
