Dubai/Abu Dhabi: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, major UAE airlines, Etihad and Emirates, have further expanded their flight operations in South Asian countries.

“According to the instructions of the UAE government, Emirates will suspend passenger transportation from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Dubai until August 7, 2021,” the airline said in its latest travel advisory.

It stated that passengers transiting through India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka in the past 14 days will not be accepted to travel to the UAE from any other location.

The airline added: “United Arab Emirates nationals, UAE Golden Visa holders and members of diplomatic missions complying with the latest COVID-19 agreement are exempted and allowed to travel.”

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced that flights from India and Pakistan to Gulf countries will be suspended until at least August 2.

The airline notified passengers of the new instructions on social media.

“Hi, Malik, according to current regulations, all flights from Pakistan have been suspended until August 2, 2021, but they may be postponed,” the airline told a passenger from Pakistan.

In response to India’s inquiry, Etihad Airways stated, “We have just received confirmation that flights from India have been suspended until August 2nd. We are not sure whether this will be extended because it depends on the authorities. Certainty, you may not see the availability on the website”.

Due to the coronavirus, flights from South Asia to the UAE have been suspended for a long time.
