Islamabad: According to sources, Dr. Ishrat Hussein, adviser to the Prime Minister’s institutional reforms and austerity policies, has resigned Geographic News Thursday.

The official resignation letter was delivered to Imran Khan’s office. However, the Prime Minister has not approved the resignation of Dr. Hussein.

Since the PTI formed the government in 2018, Dr. Hussein has been serving as the Prime Minister’s assistant in institutional reforms and austerity policies.

He is a Pakistani banker and economist and worked for the World Bank for 20 years before retiring in 1999.

The economist also served as the Dean of the School of Business Administration from 2008 to 2016, and served as the President of the National Bank of Pakistan for seven years from 1999 to 2006.
