The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant to Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, said on Saturday that pressure on Pakistan’s coronavirus vaccine stocks will ease from next week.
The special assistant said in a tweet that to date, the country has received 12.9 million doses of vaccines (including partially and fully vaccinated people), 226,000 vaccinations on June 18, 266,000 vaccinations on June 17, 6 416,000 vaccinations were received on the 16th.
The Prime Minister’s health assistant said that Pakistan currently has more than 1 million doses of vaccine in stock, and the government expects that nearly 8 million doses of vaccine will arrive in the country by the end of the month.
He said that as many as 1.55 million doses of vaccine will arrive on June 20, 2.5 million doses of vaccine will arrive on June 22, and from June 23 to 30, 20,000 to 30,000 doses of vaccine will be used for the production of 400,000 doses. The raw materials for the PakVac vaccine will arrive in Pakistan.
Sindh’s vaccination center will be closed this Sunday
Earlier in the day, the Sindh provincial government took into account the available stock of vaccine doses and decided to close all vaccination centers this Sunday (June 20).
This was decided at the Provincial Corona Working Group meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and attended by the Provincial Minister.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh provincial government, the committee heard briefings on the pandemic situation and the nationwide vaccine shortage, which has become serious in the past few days.
The meeting was informed that 3,243,988 doses of vaccine have been received so far. Of these, 2,873,857 were used, leaving only 370,141.
The meeting also learned about the vaccines that will be provided to Sindh in the next few days. The details are as follows:
-1.5 million doses of Sinovac will be received on June 21,
-On June 23, 700,000 doses of Cansino,
-400,000 doses of PakVac on June 23,
-The Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be available in the last week of the month or the first week of July.
