Lahore: The Lahore High Court on Friday instructed the Deputy Commissioner to decide on an application for a vegetable supplier who claimed that Raiwind police had booked him on the grounds of selling “cheap” vegetables.

Supplier Muhammad Waqas filed a petition asking the court to revoke the FIR registered against him. He also sought to register the FIR of government officials. The petitioner’s lawyer told the court that the police had previously registered four cases of his client selling vegetables at a high price, and the fifth case of selling vegetables at a low price. Adnan Rasheed, Raiwind’s assistance commissioner who attended the court, stated that the FIR’s text contained typographical errors.

He said that the petitioner is a repeat offender, and the government has received many complaints against him for profiteering. Judge Ali Zia Bajwa processed the petition and instructed the deputy commissioner to decide the matter in accordance with the law. At the same time, the supplier received bail before arrest from the conference court. Other district and conference judge Sahir Islam prevented the police from arresting the supplier before July 7.
