Quetta: On Tuesday, in an operation on the outskirts of the city, five suspected militants were shot dead by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

A CTD spokesperson said that when terrorists opened fire on them, law enforcement agencies and CTD personnel were conducting security operations in the Hazarganji area.

The spokesperson added that five terrorists were killed when security forces responded to the opening fire.

He added that the body of the militant has been transferred to a local hospital for identification.

He said law enforcement agencies found weapons and ammunition from the militants who were killed.

Violent incidents in Balochistan are on the rise, including an explosion on Quetta Airport Road on July 1, which injured 6 people.

The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Jam Kamal, condemned the incident, saying that the terrorists involved would not be spared.

“Unless terrorism is uprooted, the government will not stand idly by,” he once said.

ISPR said that last month, a Pakistani army soldier was killed when a terrorist attacked a soldier stationed near Turbat.

Martyred soldier Naik Aqeel Abbas was a resident of Mehro Peelo village in Chakwal district.

According to ISPR, militants attacked the army with small arms. “With the support of anti-government forces, this cowardly behavior of the hostile elements cannot undermine the hard-won peace and prosperity of Balochistan,” the military media department said shortly after the incident.

“Even at the cost of blood and lives, the security forces are determined to eliminate their evil plans.”
