Closing 63 illegal treatment centers

Lahore: The Punjab Medical Council closed 63 illegal treatment centers last week.

Primary health care law enforcement teams raided 531 treatment centers in seven cities. Among them, 174 illegal centers were found to have been transformed into legal enterprises. Major anti-fraud activities were carried out in Rawalpindi, Lordland and Bahawalpur. 115 centers in each region were raided and 9, 11 and 13 illegal businesses were closed respectively. Others include 8 Narowal, 7 Lahore and Chakwal, 5 Mandi Bahauddin, and 3 Gujranwala. Among them, there are 26 fraudsters posing as general practitioners, 14 illegal laboratories, 9 dentists, and 3 obstetricians. The rest have also been found to treat patients illegally.
