The West Indies decided to play against Pakistan first in the second T20 international game of a four-match series at Guyana’s National Stadium today (Saturday), as the first game in Bridgetown on Wednesday was abandoned due to rain.
Initially, Pakistan had to participate in five T20 international matches and two test series in the West Indies Tour, but after a non-player in the West Indies tested positive for the coronavirus, the entire T20I was cancelled.
The first T20I was abandoned due to continuous rain which delayed the start of the game for nearly three hours and reduced the game to 9 games per side. The West Indies made five of 85 shots, hitting the ball first.
Now the two teams will play the remaining three games in the shortest format. All these games are played in Providence.
Today, Pakistan is playing their 175th T20I, which is the most countries in the world, and the hosts are playing their 142nd game in this format.
So far, the two countries have participated in a total of 15 T20 international matches. Pakistan leads with 11 victories, while the West Indies have won only two-three matches were tied and one was no result.
Pakistan and the West Indies are in the final stages of preparations for the T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 17 this year. The West Indies are the defending champions of the Cup.
Although Pakistan looks very balanced, with many young all-around players, batsmen and pitchers who performed well against the host, they recently lost 1-2 to England in three T20I series games. With the exception of captain Babar Azam and Mohamed, Zwan can perform well without the batting hand.
Bowlers Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain played well, but they failed to win the series for Pakistan.
On the other hand, the West Indies just won an impressive 4-1 T20I series victory from Australia. They are led by the tough Kieron Pollard, with experienced batsmen Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Jason Holder as well as excellent pitchers Fidel Edward and Andre Russell.
Let’s see how Pakistan played against the vibrant West Indies at their home court.
