Charles Barkley suggested that the Hawks replace the injured Trey Young with Jeff Teague, who played for the Bucks

The Eagles announced shortly before their fourth game with the Bucks that Tre Young Won’t play Due to a bone contusion in his right foot, coach Nate McMillan was vacant in his starting lineup. Louis Williams became the obvious candidate to fill the vacancy, but Charles Barkley has another player in his mind.

On Tuesday night’s “NBA on TNT” pre-game show, members of the Hall of Famer suggested that the Hawks should start with Jeff Teague, a veteran point guard with extensive playoff experience.

“I would choose Jeff Teague, because if you choose Louis Williams, I can’t see—yes, Jeff Teague,” Barkley said. “I will activate him.”

There is only one small problem, Chuck.

“He is not exactly on the Atlanta Hawks roster,” Ernie Johnson said.

Yes, Teague is actually a member of the Bucks—you know, another team in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals.

In Barkley’s defense, Teague did play for the Hawks from 2009 to 2016 and played 25 games for Atlanta last season. He started the 2020-21 season as a member of the Celtics, but he was sent to the Magic in March as part of the trade that brought Evan Fournier to Boston. After Orlando gave up Teague, he signed with Milwaukee and has been on the Bucks roster ever since.

Shaquille O’Neal certainly did not miss the opportunity of the clown Barkley, calling him the “big fool”. When Barkley asked the group to name another guard for the Eagles, O’Neal threw away Spud Webber, the former Atlanta fan favorite known for winning the 1986 slam dunk contest, despite his score of only 5- 6. Not very helpful, Shaq.

McMillan eventually chose Williams, who led the Eagles with 13 points on 4 of 4 shots in the first half. Don’t listen to Barkley’s good call.
