  • AJK Chairman Sardar Masood Khan thanked all the players, especially the former South African hitter Herschel Gibbs, who came to KPL despite the threat from India.
  • Said that one day a similar cricket match would be organized in occupied Kashmir.
  • Warn India not to politicize sports.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masud Khan cheered the Kashmir Premier League held in Muzaffarabad and sent a message of peace and freedom from the scenic valley.

He also thanked former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs for not succumbing to pressure from the Cricket Control Council of India (BCCI).

“I want to thank Herschelle Gibbs for accepting BCCI and not succumbing to their pressure,” the president said in a speech at the inauguration of the first season of KPL.

The 47-year-old cricketer was the first to expose BCCI’s conspiracy against KPL.

Gibbs revealed in his social media posts that BCCI is bringing a political agenda to Pakistan and is trying to prevent him from participating in the KPL.

Gibbs exposed the wrongdoing in India. He said he was threatened by the board of directors and was told that he would not be allowed to enter India to engage in cricket-related work.

“There is no need for @BCCI to put their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and try to prevent me from participating @kpl_20,” Gibbs wrote on Twitter.

The president of AJK welcomes all cricket players competing on the KPL platform. He also paid tribute to KPL Chairman Arif Malik and Kashmir Committee Chairman Shehryar Khan Afridi, who worked day and night to make major cricket matches possible.

“We send a message to the rulers in charge of Delhi affairs and let the Kashmiris freely play,” said AJK chairman. “In today’s historic day, the glittering stadium and the glittering stars on the ground prove the freedom of the game.”

The official slogan of KPL is #KheloAzadiSe [Play with freedom].

He went on to say that this stadium surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Muzaffarabad Valley is one of the best in the world. He added that this is the charm of independence.

“Therefore, we want to send a message to the Bharatiya Janata Party and RSS hate propagandists that India should not play politics on cricket,” Sardar Masood asserted. He called on India to stop all oppressive tactics in cricket matches.

The AJK chairman stated that all attempts by Indians to slander KPL have been dashed because the alliance will “achieve amazing success due to public spirit and enthusiasm.”

“Azad Kashmir is not only free, but democracy here is also very prosperous. But in occupied Kashmir, India has also deprived Kashmiris of the right to vote,” he emphasized. “As tourists from all over the world come to enjoy the natural beauty of the region, Azad Kashmir allows tourism.”

He emphasized the differences between the two Kashmirs, saying that Azad Kashmir stands on the threshold of development, while India has imposed inhumane restrictions on occupied Kashmir.

“We also conveyed this message to India that we will be playing here today. But one day we will be in Srinagar, Jammu, Kargil, Baramura, Pulwama, Shopian, Rajouri and Poonch. Play similar games,” he emphasized.

Sardar Masood said that the world is watching Muzaffarabad’s celebration through the eyes of a camera, adding that India should learn from this atmosphere of freedom and lift the military siege of occupied Kashmir.

President AJK urged India to liberate Kashmiris from the chains, open the prison gate, let the world visit Kashmir, and let Kashmiris travel the world.

“We are sending messages of peace, reconciliation, justice and freedom from Muzaffarabad Stadium. We say let us play freely,” he added.
