Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s military media department said on Thursday that a Pakistani army captain and a soldier were martyred in an improvised explosive device attack in Balochistan.
“Terrorists used improvised explosive devices to target security forces at Khuda Bux Bazar near Pashni. Captains Affan Masood and Sepoy Babar Zaman accepted Shahadat,” Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
ISPR stated that a search operation is underway to arrest the perpetrators.
“With the support of hostile intelligence agencies (HIAs), this cowardly behavior of hostile elements cannot disrupt the hard-won peace and prosperity of Balochistan,” it added.
The military stated that the security forces are determined to eliminate this evil design at all costs.
“Peace and prosperity in Balochistan are the cornerstones of progress”
Earlier this month, Army Chief of Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa emphasized that peace and prosperity in Balochistan are the cornerstones of Pakistan’s progress.
According to a statement issued by ISPR, COAS passed the above remarks during a speech at the 7th Balochistan National Symposium on GHQ in Rawalpindi.
“Peace and prosperity in Balochistan are the cornerstones of Pakistan’s progress. It is time to reap the hard-won peace dividends and adopt a people-oriented approach to achieve lasting stability and accelerate socio-economic development,” said the Army Chief of Staff.
However, General Bajwa warned that the security forces will “remain firm and determined” to defeat the enemies of peace and prosperity in Balochistan and Pakistan.
Military media have stated that the Chief of Staff of the Army emphasized “internal and external challenges” in his speech. He told attendees that all-round threats require a “comprehensive national response.”
“Balochistan is the focus of national leadership. The military, in coordination with other state agencies, fully participates in national and provincial responses. We are a resilient country that has withstood the test of time on the road to peace and stability.” General Jeva said.
