Due to an ankle injury, Alfonso Davis was excluded from the Canadian Gold Cup team. Canadian Football Association announced.
Bayern Munich’s left-back was injured in training earlier this week and is now returning to the club to start recovering.
Davis scored 4 goals and 5 assists in 6 games for Canada in 2021, including World Cup qualifiers.
History of ankle injury
Davis missed an important game at Bayern Munich in the 2020-21 season due to an ankle ligament injury. He also experienced knee problems before, which means that lower body pain is not new to players.
The severity of the ankle problem has not been announced.
