Lahore: The Civil Aviation Administration has issued new recommendations on airport security to avoid threats and monitor Afghan refugees trying to enter the country illegally, Geographic News Reported on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, the ID cards of all contractors and employees will be verified before allowing them to enter the airport. All passengers and trucks will also be searched when entering the airport.

The announcement stated: “No Afghan or foreigner will work at the airport without permission,” the announcement said, adding that airport staff will also be prohibited from using mobile phones on the runway or on the airport apron.

According to the recommendation, the Airport Security Force (ASF) and CAA should re-check the staff’s ID cards and vehicles at the airport entrance to further increase their vigilance.

The Taliban recently took control of the Afghan side of the Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing that facilitated trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

As a precautionary measure, Pakistan has also suspended all trade activities at the Chaman border crossing.
