The flight data of the C-130 transport plane that crashed on Jolo Island, which missed the runway and killed 52 people, was restored.

The Philippine authorities have found a black box from an Air Force plane that crashed over the weekend that killed more than 50 people, Military Chief Ciirito Sobejana told Reuters on Tuesday.

Sobejana said on the phone that the captain had many years of experience in flying a C-130 aircraft and that he was one of the victims of the Jolo Island crash.

The military official said that a black box was retrieved on Monday, which should allow investigators to listen to the conversation between the pilot and the crew before the plane crashed.

“I talked to the survivors and they said the plane bounced two or three times and was jagged. The pilot tried to regain power because he wanted to raise the plane, but it was too late. The right wing hit a tree,” he said .

Sobejana said that no one jumped from the plane before the plane crashed. Earlier, witnesses said that some passengers had tried to jump to a safe place before the plane hit the ground.

He said that the front of the plane was cut open and some soldiers took the opportunity to escape. But the unconscious person could not get out, and the plane caught fire.

The Lockheed C-130 transport plane carried 96 people and was carrying troops to carry out counterinsurgency operations in the southern Philippines.

The Ministry of Defense said that after two of the 49 soldiers injured in the crash died from their injuries, Monday’s death toll rose to 52, including three civilians on the ground.

The military spokesman Edgard Arevalo said the aircraft was “in very good condition”, with 11,000 flight hours left before the next maintenance is due.
