NAKYAL: The Bharatiya Janata Party Chairman Bilawar Bhutto-Zardari expressed confidence in his party on Monday and said that the BJP will form a government with “people’s voting rights” in Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Bilawar is speaking at a rally in Nakiyar in Azad Kashmir as part of his party’s election campaign in the region.

“Government and [rival parties] You should know that PPP has a young chairperson,” the PPP chairperson said.

He said that PPP is “the only political party in Pakistan that is supported by the poor” and added that the PTI government and other political parties “have no reason to be afraid of PPP”.

“If you have to compete with us, then you should do it through the voting and election process,” Vilavar told the government and other hostile parties.

The PPP chairman further criticized the PTI government, saying that Pakistan was unfortunate because it had been imposed a “puppet of the prime minister” and added that when India’s Modi attacked Kashmir, the prime minister of Pakistan said he could do nothing about it. it.

AJK’s political process before the July 25 elections

The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will go to a polling station on July 25 to elect new members of the region’s legislative assembly.

Like Pakistan, the region also has a parliamentary government, including the President, Prime Minister, Supreme Court, High Court, and Independent Electoral Commission.

However, Prime Minister Imran Khan is the chairman of the Kashmir Committee, the highest office in the region.

The Legislative Assembly is composed of 53 members, 33 of which are directly elected from the 10 districts of AJK. On the other hand, Kashmir refugees living in the four provinces of Pakistan have 12 seats.

The parliament also set up a seat for Kashmiris overseas and reserved five seats for women. At the same time, Ulema-e-Din or Mashaikh reserved a seat, and the technocrats reserved a seat.

It is worth noting that despite Pakistan’s enforcement of martial law, the political process of AJK continues. If a hostile party has a federal government in Pakistan, the governance of the region will not be disturbed.

Opinion polls in the region have also received international attention, as AJK’s polls are compared with elections held in occupied Kashmir. This is the main reason why EU observers were present to monitor the AJK elections in 2006.

This year, 32 political parties including the AJK branch of Pakistan’s mainstream party participated in the election.

There are 3.2 million voters in the region, of which 1.75 million are men and 1.46 million are women.
