In a major development, it was revealed that Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) received more than 50 million downloads on Google Play less than two months after its launch. To commemorate this feat, the company presented players with permanent equipment of the “Galaxy Messenger Set” and more rewards.
In early August, Krafton announced a special reward of close to 50 million downloads, including three crates of supply coupons, when the title reached 48 and 49 million downloads, respectively. This achievement is not surprising, because BGMI is very popular in India. The PUBG ban is the main reason for this huge popularity.
In response, Wooyol Lim, head of Krafton’s BGMI department, said in a press release: “We are very happy to be part of this celebration. With Battlegrounds Mobile India’s 50 million downloads on the Play Store, we feel even sweeter. I look forward to responding equally strongly to our first eSports tournament starting next month.”
Krafton also hinted that the company will launch an iOS version of the game on its social media channels. Currently, the game has been mentioned on Android phones through the Google Play Store. BMGI will celebrate “Independence Day Mahotsav” from August 11th to August 20th, when players will have the opportunity to win rewards, including special AGM skins.
In addition, the company has also added players to unlock new missions before Independence Day. Recently, the company banned more than 336,000 players who cheated in the game, and their accounts have been permanently disabled.
