Islamabad: On Monday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) launched an investigation into former President Asif Ali Zardari (Asif Ali Zardari), accusing him of concealing the ownership of the New York apartment that the bureau claims to own.

In response, the PPP leader has submitted a petition to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) requesting bail before arrest during the investigation.

NAB has notified the former president through notice that he did not disclose in Pakistan that he owns a New York apartment.

NAB also pointed out in the notice that anti-corruption agencies were unable to obtain records confirming that any legal payments were sent from Pakistan to purchase apartments in New York.

The former president wrote in the petition that he received the NAB notice on June 15 and had sought time to respond to the notice. Zardari said he has requested time so that he can collect information about the property.

The former president said in the petition: “NAB has a history of targeting me.” “I have many diseases and I am receiving medical treatment,” he added.

Zardari asked the High Court to allow him to be released on bail until the final judgment of the case, and declared that the notice issued by the National Bank was illegal.

Ali Zaidi shared Zardari’s so-called property tax bill for a New York apartment

Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi tweeted in 2018 the property tax bill for New York apartments allegedly owned by the PPP co-chairs.

PTI has submitted a letter of recommendation for Zardari to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), accusing him of hiding the property in the nomination document.

The petition was submitted by Khurram Sher Zaman of PTI, and Firdous Shamim Naqvi prompted ECP Sindh to take notice of the matter and disqualify Zardari as a member of the National Assembly. The provincial election commissioner insisted that only ECP Islamabad could take action against it.

The property document published by Zaidi on Twitter mentioned that the address of the apartment is: 524 East 72 street, Apt 37F, NY, NY Manhattan 10021. Zaidi tagged Zaman in the tweet and said: “@khurram2004 provides more information for your petition.”
