Islamabad: The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) announced on Friday that after Pakistan reported 1,425 cases in the past 24 hours, the total number of coronaviruses on Friday surpassed the grim milestone of 1 million.

According to NCOC data, 25,215 tests have been performed in the past 24 hours, with a positive rate of less than 6%. The current positive rate is 5.65%, and the total number of cases is 1,000,034.

Two months after the total number of positive cases in Pakistan exceeded 900,000, NCOC reported this grim milestone.

After 11 people died from the disease, the nationwide number of coronavirus deaths is now 22,939.

The number of recovered patients is 923,472, and the number of active cases in the country is 53,623.

In the shadow of the coronavirus, Pakistan is the third day of Eid al-Adha

As Muslims across Pakistan celebrate this religious holiday, the coronavirus has cast a shadow on Eid al-Adha celebrations for the second year in a row.

The Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the country come at a time when COVID-19 cases are witnessing a steady rise and the threat of Delta variants is imminent.

Since Eid al-Fitr may become a super-spreader incident-and the possible cause of the fourth wave-the government has urged the nation to reduce gatherings.
