Pakistani star athlete Arshad Nadeem (Arshad Nadeem) has landed in Pakistan after his outstanding performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Although the track and field athlete failed to win a medal in the world’s largest sports event, he won the hearts of Pakistanis with his indomitable will to put Pakistan on the map when resources are scarce.

Arshad Nadeem’s plane landed at the Alama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore at 1:30 in the morning. The airport is preparing for his grand reception.

It is worth mentioning here that Nadim won fifth place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic javelin competition, and Indian player Neeraj Chopra took home the gold medal.

He became the first Pakistani athlete ever to qualify for the Olympic track and field finals, thus making history in global events.

Nadim’s ranking once soared to fourth in the standings, but was soon surpassed by rival athletes.

In the final round of the game, Nadim shot 8,198 meters in the first round and 8,198 meters in the second round. But his last pitch was declared a foul, putting him in fifth place.

Indian player Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal with a javelin throw of 87.58 meters. He became the first track and field athlete in India to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Standing in the winning stands, Chopra was followed by Jakub Vadrejic and Witzyslav Wiseli of the Czech Republic, who won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

The Indian government has spent huge sums of money on Chopra. In contrast, Arshad Nadeem’s preparation funds mainly came from his worker father.

Although he has earned a good reputation for the country for six years, the Pakistani government has allocated meager funds for his preparations.

Cash reward

The Punjab government acknowledged his efforts in sports and has announced that it will provide Arshad Nadeem with a cash award worth 1 million rupees in recognition of his outstanding performance in the Tokyo Olympics. Punjab Sports Minister Rai Taimur Khan Bhatti said: “Arshad Nadeem is the first Pakistani track and field athlete to directly qualify. [for Olympics].”

Rai Taimur Khan Bhatti Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will hand the cash prizes to Arshad Nadeem along with Olympian Talha Talib and mountaineer Shehroz Kashmir, making every Pakistani proud of their outstanding performance.
