Arshad Nadeem maintains Pakistan’s medal hopes at the Tokyo Olympics and enters the javelin final

On Wednesday, Arshad Nadeem entered the men’s javelin final with a score of 85.16 meters, giving Pakistan still hope of winning the maiden medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

This feat made him the first Pakistani to qualify for the Olympic track and field finals.

Nadeem’s pitching ranked third on the day, second only to India’s Neeraj Chopra (86.65m) and the world’s leading German player Johannes Vetter (85.64m).

The 24-year-old pitcher from Haneval won the championship by surpassing Julian Weber of Germany and Jakub Wadelech of the Czech Republic, and won a place in the medal match-a performance that allowed his coach from Applaud from the seat.

Nadim’s personal best is 8,638 meters, which is his achievement when he won the gold medal in Iran’s Imam Raza Track and Field Cup in April.

Since he won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in December 2019, he is one of the few Pakistani athletes to qualify directly for the Olympic Games.
