Apple is finally selling official replacement parts for its iPhones by launching a store in the US with over 200 individual parts and tools that can be used to repair iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and third-gen iPhone SE.

“Later this year the program will also include manuals, parts, and tools to perform repairs on Mac computers with Apple silicon,” said the company.

To repair your phone, Apple recommends first visiting the Self Service Repair support page through your browser, reading the manual for the iPhone they wish to repair and then making a trip to the Self Service Repair Store for tools and parts. The essential parts may be expensive but the company offers credit at a lower price on the condition that you will return the replaced iPhone part for recycling.

Apple will also offer DIY repairs such as “tool rental kits for $49, so that customers who do not want to purchase tools for a single repair still have access to these professional repair tools”.

The kits will be shipped to customers free of cost. The iPhone maker promises that all the tools “are custom-designed to help provide the best repairs for Apple products, and are engineered to withstand the rigours of high-volume, professional repair operations where safety and reliability are the utmost priority”.

In the report by PC Mag, Apple says that a system configuration will be required at the end of the year which will be completed with genuine Apple parts.
