Another 528,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Pakistan

Officials under Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Service Regulations and Coordination said on Saturday that another batch of Sinopharm vaccines had arrived in Pakistan.
According to health officials, Pakistan received 528,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine today and 792,000 doses last night.
The third shipment, containing 680,000 doses, will arrive tomorrow.
“By Sunday, Pakistan will purchase a total of 2 million doses of vaccines,” they said.
According to officials, the dose will be distributed among the provinces according to the requirements of the provinces.
Vaccine shortage hits Karachi
According to reports, Karachi faced a vaccine shortage on Thursday.
Sindh Health Department officials said that as thousands of people flooded into the city’s vaccination centers, there was a shortage of vaccines for Sinopharm, Kexing and AstraZeneca.
Health officials said that the vaccine stocks in Dow Oja Hospital and Sindh Provincial Government Children’s Hospital have been exhausted, while the supply of vaccination centers in New Karachi, Liaquatabad and Leary has been suspended.
Officials said that the first dose of Sinopharm, Sinovac and AstraZeneca were not vaccinated, and those seeking a second dose could use a small amount of the vaccine.
Pakistan seeks to purchase millions of doses
Earlier this week, officials from the Ministry of National Health Service Regulations and Coordination stated that the federal government’s goal is to purchase more than 30 million more doses of vaccine in August.
Officials said that as the country was fighting the fourth wave of COVID-19, vaccines were being purchased to keep the vaccination process going smoothly.
On Monday, Pakistan achieved the 1 million vaccination mark per day, and Islamabad became the first city to receive at least one dose of 50% of its eligible population.
