Vodafone Idea (Vi) has warned its users to be wary of scammers who deceive people by asking them to update KYC details. The company said: “We noticed that some Vi customers received text messages and calls from unidentified numbers, asking them to update their KYC immediately.”

Even other telecommunications companies are constantly reminding users of these fake text messages and fraud. These fraudsters follow a certain process, like they would call you first and ask to update your KYC details, because if your details are incomplete, have not been updated, or have expired, your SIM card will be blocked.

Then they will try several other techniques to force you to share KYC details over the phone or send them an email. Many unsuspecting customers fell into this trap and immediately shared all these details, which led to disastrous results.

“If KYC is not completed, these fraudsters sometimes pretend to be company representatives and use SIM cards to block unsuspecting users. They may also seek certain confidential information from customers in the name of verification,” Vi said.

“Vi reminds all our customers not to make such unauthorized calls and text messages. Vi customers are advised not to provide their KYC details or share any OTP with anyone during the call, and they should not call back these numbers or click SMS Any links mentioned in,” the warning added.

Vi further warns all users not to click on any unverified links or share any details that will eventually lead to the theft of data and information. “All customer communications from the company are only completed through SMS ID’ViCARE’.
