Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Election Commission on Friday ordered the Federal Minister of Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur to leave the area after the convoy was attacked a day earlier.

The AJK Election Commission stated in a letter to the chief secretary of the region that it had banned federal ministers from participating in meetings and giving speeches.

The letter said: “The speech of the Federal Minister is creating law and order problems in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.”

The Election Commission stated that it is taking action against PTI candidates who violated the polling code of conduct.

Gandapur’s convoy was attacked in Jhelum

The federal minister’s convoy was attacked while traveling with the Minister of Communications and Postal Services Murad Said and other PTI leaders to a public meeting related to the upcoming AJK elections.

When his convoy passed a place in the Jhelum Valley, some angry people threw stones at it.

People also threw eggs at the convoy and blocked the Srinagar highway. The guards of the Federal Minister took aerial shots to disperse the crowd.

However, the PML-N leadership denied these allegations.
