New Delhi: Both Airtel and Vodafone Idea seem to be preparing to increase the price of their telecom plans to improve their financial situation in India’s highly competitive telecom industry.

Earlier this month, Airtel increased the price of its home and business postpaid plans by 30%, indicating that the telecommunications company is not afraid of the consequences of price increases.

The telecommunications giant also increased the price of its cheapest monthly prepaid plan from 49 rupees to 79 rupees by 60%. Airtel has revised the rates of some other mobile plans to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU), which is a key measure of the profitability of telecommunications companies.

Currently, corporate customers account for 60% of Bharti Airtel’s postpaid users. The increase in tariffs will boost the revenue of telecommunications companies.

At the same time, according to News18, Airtel’s rival company Vodafone Idea (Vi) is planning to increase tariffs on its prepaid plan. The telecommunications company has increased the tariff for the cheapest monthly plan in Maharashtra and Gujarat from 49 rupees to 79 rupees.

Customers who top up with a 49 rupees voucher can now get a 14-day validity period instead of a 28-day validity period. The joint venture between Vodafone and Idea may soon also increase tariffs in other areas. Please also read: India’s 8 core industries increase in June output by about 9%
