PML-N Secretary-General Ahsan Iqbal tested positive for the coronavirus again on Saturday, almost a year after he contracted the coronavirus First signing COVID-19.

The PML-N leader said on Twitter: “I tested positive for COVID again and have entered quarantine.”

Iqbal urged people to pray for him and asked the masses to wear masks and abide by the government’s COVID-19 SOP to prevent the spread of the virus.

The development took place a few days after PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb announced that the party’s deputy chairman Maryam Nawaz had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Aurangzeb said that Mariam went into self-isolation after testing positive, and she called on people to pray for PML-N leaders and other people infected with the virus.

Later, the vice president of PML-N said in response to a tweet that he was receiving treatment at home and had symptoms such as “fever, cough, and flu.”

Pakistan’s COVID-19 crisis is getting worse

Pakistan’s fight against the coronavirus is getting worse every day, with close to 5,000 cases a day in the country on Saturday morning.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center, after 58,479 COVID-19 tests were conducted, 4,950 new infections were detected in the past 24 hours.

The positive rate jumped to 8.64%.

Statistics from the NCOC show that after 65 people died of the disease, the number of people who died from the coronavirus nationwide is now 23,360, while the number of recovered patients is 940,164, and the country has 66,287 active cases.

According to the breakdown of the provinces, the total number of cases in Sindh has reached 380,093, 143,673 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 356,211 in Punjab, 87,304 in Islamabad, 30,289 in Balochistan, 24,145 in Azar Mir and Kyrgyzstan.
