After England’s defeat, what expectations does Pakistan have for the West Indies Series?

After the COVID-19 case was discovered in the England camp, in my opinion, there is no doubt that Pakistan will perform well and even win the ODI phase of the recently concluded Pakistan vs. England series.

However, the inexperienced English lineup not only shocked most experts, but also surpassed the experienced and well-balanced Pakistan team.

The way the England team hit the ball and executed their plan for the key Pakistani player was surprising. They show that in today’s environment, a well-thought-out and role-based cricket plan is much better than a random plan.

Pak vs WI: T20 series schedule changes

The T20 stage of the series is more competitive, and despite playing against more experienced and well-known British players, Pakistani players look more in control.

The statistics of the ODI series provide an overall picture of the performance of each team.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam ran a total of 177 times, with a maximum score of 158 times and an average of 59 times per game. He scored with a batting rate of 113.46 and ranked among the best on the batting chart. After that game, James Vince, Lewis Gregory, Phil Salter and Zach Crowley scored 158, 117, 104 and 97 runs, respectively. This shows the dominance of British batsmen over Pakistan’s bowling.

Although Rizwan ran 90 times in this series, his average 30 runs per round did not reach his usual standard. Fakhar Zaman, Imam ul Haq, Shadab Khan and Sohaib Maqsood looked out of place and performed poorly. It is difficult to associate the average of 21, 19, 17, and 15 with these big names.

In the bowling department, Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse have excellent bowling balls, grabbing 9 and 6 wickets, respectively, with an average score of 13 and 22 respectively. In particular, Saqib broke Pakistan’s batting line with an economic advantage of 4.3 points per game.

Park Dueying: Misbah said Pakistan lost the England series due to the weak domestic cricket system.

Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali from Pakistan also took 6 wickets each, but their economic rates were 6.6 and 6.8 respectively, much higher than their British counterparts.

Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi only took three and two wickets respectively, which was much lower than expected. Their bowling averages are 43 and 68 respectively. 2/28 is his best bowling stats. British spinner Matt Parkinson scored 5 wickets and averaged 28 times.

Since Pakistan defeated England under the leadership of Intikhab Alam in 1974, the ODI series ended with England whitewashing Pakistan and maintaining the winning record of the bilateral ODI series.

The T20 round of the series was more competitive. England defeated Pakistan with three wickets in the series deciding game, with two goals left.

Mohammad Rizwan became the highest scorer with a total score of 176, an average score of 88 and a hit rate of 138. Azam once again left a deep impression on everyone. His 118 points were 39 and his field goal percentage was 151.

Although Fakhar Zaman, Sohaib Maqsood and Shadab Khan maintained good shooting percentages of 161, 162 and 140, they failed to get big points. They ended the series and only ran 58, 47, and 38 times respectively.

As far as the series of shots are concerned, Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy are true stars. They ran 147 and 106 times respectively, but their 216 and 200 hit rates were different. They stole the initiative from Pakistan, and their fast running speed has been a headache for Pakistani bowlers throughout the series.

Next is the T20 and West Indies test series. Although the Caribbean team ranks eighth in the current ICC T20 ranking, their morale is high after they recently defeated the fifth-ranked Australian 4-1.

Their cannons are playing some great cricket, and the young people are also playing a role. Rendell Simmons, Evan Lewis, Andre Russell, Chris Gale, and Nicholas Plan are all playing very well. On the other hand, the relatively new Hayden Walsh, Sheldon Cottrell and Obed McCoy also played well.

Park Dueying: Although Babar Azam scored 158 points in the third ODI, England still swept the Pakistan series

The West Indies are a very capable and aggressive team. They have won two T20 World Cup victories and have some of the most explosive cricket batsmen in their team. Pakistan’s defeat of the West Indies in the backyard is a difficult task.

With the T20 World Cup approaching, we don’t have much room to test our bench strength. We should stick to our best combination now and see how we perform.
