Two more cities in Afghanistan fall into the hands of the Taliban

The Afghan Taliban continued to advance rapidly on Tuesday and occupied more territory, occupying major cities such as Fatah and Pulkumri.

“The Taliban are now in this city,” Baghlan MP Mamur Ahmedzai told AFP earlier.

“They raised the flag in the main square and the governor’s office building.”

The Taliban confirmed their seizures in a separate tweet.

The six other provincial capitals that have collapsed since Friday are in the north of the country, and the insurgents have set their sights on Mazar-i-Sharif, the largest city in the region.

Its downfall will mark the complete collapse of the government’s control of the traditional anti-Taliban north.
