
Olympic cricket is about to become a reality

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed its intention to apply for the sport to be included in the Olympic Games.
The International Criminal Court said in a statement on Tuesday that it had convened a working group to lead the bid on behalf of the sport. The point is that cricket becomes part of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, and all subsequent versions of the Olympics.
Ian Watmore, Chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Committee, will chair the ICC Olympic Working Group. ICC Independent Director Indra Nooyi, Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani, ICC Associate Member Director and Vice Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council Mahinda Vallipuram, and U.S. Cricket Committee Chairman Paraag Marathe will join him.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay congratulated the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Organizing Committee and expressed their hope that cricket will be part of the Olympic Games. In a statement issued by the International Criminal Court, he said:
“First of all, on behalf of everyone in the ICC, I congratulate the International Olympic Committee, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the Japanese people for hosting such an incredible Olympic Games under such difficult circumstances. The imagination to watch and capture the world is really great. We hope that cricket will become part of the future Olympic Games.”
“Our sport is united behind this bid. We see the Olympics as part of the long-term future of cricket. We have more than 1 billion fans worldwide, and nearly 90% of them want to see cricket in the Olympics. ball.”
The chairman said that the huge fan base who saw their heroes vying for Olympic medals deserves attention. He added:
“Obviously, cricket has a strong and enthusiastic fan base, especially in South Asia. 92% of our fans are from South Asia, and there are 30 million cricket fans in the United States. These fans have the opportunity to see their heroes competing for Olympic medals. Alluring.”
Barclays continued:
“We believe that cricket will be a highlight of the Olympics, but we know it is not easy to ensure that we are included, because there are many other great sports that want to do the same thing. But we feel it’s time to show us On the best side, it showcases the great partnership between cricket and the Olympics.”
U.S. Cricket Chairman Pararag Marathe believes that the time to bid for the Olympics is ripe. He says:
“U.S. Cricket is very happy to support cricket’s bid to host the Olympics. This is in full compliance with our ongoing plan to develop this sport in the United States.”
He believes that the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games will play cricket as part of it. Marat said:
“With so many enthusiastic cricket fans and players already in the United States, as well as a large global audience and followers of the sport around the world, we believe that the addition of cricket will add tremendous value to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles and help We achieved our goal. The vision of making cricket the mainstream sport in this country.”
