Islam Makhachev hopes to win the UFC lightweight title in 2022

Islam Mahachev will face Thiago Moises in the main event UFC Vegas 31 later this day. If he manages to beat the Brazilian, Makhachev believes that winning in the next game will be enough for him to win the title.

“I may have a few steps. Play two more games, one (against Moises) and one, and then in early 2022, I will fight for the championship,” Mahachev told TMZ Sports.

Islam Makhachev made his UFC debut in 2015. After successfully qualifying for his debut, he was eliminated by Adriano Martins in the second game.

Since then, Islam Makhachev has performed well in the 155-pound division and has won seven times in a row, most recently against Drew Duber at UFC 259.
