Sri Lankan bowlers started off well in the 1st innings of the game when Dilshan Madushanka dismissed the Proteas skipper cheaply.
However, South African batsmen capitalized on a good batting wicket and a below-par bowling from the Sri Lankans to post a massive 428 for 5, along the way breaking several records.
In the Sri Lankan reply, Kusal Mendis responded brilliantly with a counterattacking 76 off just 42 deliveries with 8 massive sixes.
Asalanka played a solid knock to score 79 runs while Skipper Dasun Shanaka chipped in with 68.
With rest of the batters not contributing enough, Sri Lanka did not have the power at the back end of the innings to finish off the chase.
