Welcome to 2021 NBA Draft. The Pistons are ticking.

After winning the NBA draft draw on Tuesday night, Detroit has the ability to sign with the first overall pick to change the team’s prospects. But the Pistons are not the only team that may change their destiny due to table tennis.

The Rockets, Cavaliers, Raptors and more teams may select key parts of their roster on July 29. This year’s draft class has some top talented players, some of whom are expected to make contributions immediately after entering the league.

There is still more than a month before the start of the draft. This is the best attempt by sports news to simulate drafts.

1. Pistons-Cade Cunningham, G, Oklahoma State University (19 years old)

Cunningham is regarded as the consensus choice because he has the size and skills that all NBA teams dream of. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. In his only season for the Cowboys, he made 155 three-pointers and hit 40%. There are not many turnovers (4.0 per game), but it should be noted that Cunningham’s lineup is very limited.

2. Rockets-Evan Mobley, C, University of Southern California (19 years old)

Mobley is the kind of big man who excels in the modern NBA. He can protect the rim (2.9 blocks per game), but he moves smoothly enough to be consistent with guards in the pick and roll. He also has the potential to become an outside threat on the offensive end. The key to his development is to add muscle to his frame (7-0, 215 pounds).

3. Cavaliers—— Jalen Green, G, G League Ignite (19 years old)

It is not surprising to see Green become the best pure scorer at this level, as he averaged 17.9 points and 46.1% field goal percentage in 15 games in the G League. He is an excellent athlete who can complete the offense at the basket, even if he must fight through physical contact. He needs to improve his organizational skills and be more active defensively, but Green undoubtedly has a huge advantage.

4. Raptors—— Jalen Suggs, G, Gonzaga (19 years old)

As one of the greatest stars in college basketball last season, Suggs proved himself to be an excellent leader, able to play a role as the team’s main offensive creator. Although Saggs is not a long-range sniper (33.7% from three-point range), he should be able to develop into a more stable shooter, and he is a smart off-the-ball cut-in and screener.

5. Magic-Jonathan Cuminga, forward, Development League Ignite (18 years old)

Just like Green, Kuminga is one of the best athletes in this group of potential players. His size, strength and wingspan can make him a legitimate two-way wing in the end, but he needs time to develop. Kuminga can be a ball-handler on the offensive end, but on the defensive end he does not always bring the required strength. His shooting percentage is not entirely encouraging (38.7/24.6/62.5 from the field, three-pointers and free throws), although it is unfair to say that his shots are completely failed.

6. Thunder-Scotty Barnes, F, Florida State University (19 years old)

There is a future, Barnes will become the best defensive team. He is used by almost all types of players at Florida State University, from ball handlers to big men with the back of the basket. He has proven his ability to be an excellent playmaker, but his shooting percentage must increase to win the respect of opposing defenders (27.5% from three-point line and 62.1% from free throws).

7. The Warriors (from the Timberwolves)—— Davion Mitchell, G, Baylor (22 years old)

Mitchell made a deep impression in Baylor’s championship battle and killed any player in front of him. Although he is considered a tenacious defender, Mitchell’s most significant improvement occurred at the other end of the court. He has become an excellent playmaker (5.5 assists per game), and his three-point shooting percentage has increased significantly (32.4% in 2019-20 and 44.7% in 2020-21).

8. Magic (from the Bulls)- Keon Johnson, G, Tennessee (19 years old)

Perhaps the best word to describe Johnson is explosive. When this guy drives down the fairway to the basket, good luck trying to stop him. He also made good use of this speed and athleticism on the defensive end, causing problems for opposing guards. Johnson’s main focus should be on expanding his range, because he made only 13 shots from beyond the three-point line in Tennessee.

9. Kings-Franz Wagner, F, Michigan (19 years old)

Wagner showed versatility on both ends of the court in Michigan. He is a smart team defender who can deal with frontcourt players, but can maintain his strength against smaller defenders. He can also influence the game without eating the ball, as an elbow passer, screener or spot shooter. He may not have the ceiling of those guys in front, but he can play in the league for a long time.

10. Pelicans-Corey Keithbert, forward, Gonzaga (22 years old)

As one of the best shooters at this level (averaged 6.5 three-pointers per game last season, 44% shooting), Kispert’s accuracy and quick triggers should allow him to have an immediate impact at the next level. He is not a good athlete, but he fights on the defensive end. He must continue to develop his dribbling skills so that he can punish opponents who struggle near the three-point line.

11. Hornets-Alperen Sengun, C, Besiktas (18 years old)

As an old-school low-post big man, Sengun dominates the Turkish Premier League, averaging 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, shooting 64.6% from the field. He has a good ability to touch the ball near the basket and shows a willingness to play open. There are questions about his lack of shooting and defensive restrictions.

12. Spurs-Jalen Johnson, forward, Duke (19 years old)

Johnson played only 13 games at Duke University. In order to focus on preparing for the NBA draft, he left the team in February. His enticing talents are sometimes fully demonstrated, especially his ability to create for himself and others in an open field. Will those shining lights outweigh concerns about his maturity?

13. Pacers-Josh Gidi, defender, Adelaide (18 years old)

Gidi won the NBL Rookie of the Year with 10.9 points, 7.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game. He knows how to manipulate the defense and create passing routes. He is not a sleepy shooter (29.3 three-pointers) or outstanding athlete, but there is reason to believe that he will develop into a member of the NBA rotation.

14. Warriors-James Bucknet, G, Connecticut (20 years old)

Bouknight gets the bucket. As a natural scorer (18.7 points per game), the University of Connecticut star can find his way to layup and dribble to hit controversial jumpers, an important skill for NBA guards. He will have to pass the ball hard and provide more stable resistance on the defensive end, but he should provide enough offensive firepower.
